An estimated 400 people came through the Cosmic studio on Friday, September 18th for the Pop-up Market celebrating the launch of the Santa Cruz Economic Development Office Choose Santa Cruz brand. The event was equal parts celebration as well as an invitation to the community to learn more about the passion that drives the work we do to support all things business in Santa Cruz.
Our partnership with Design by Cosmic has provided an opportunity to work one-on-one with a local company to build a website for businesses that can serve as a platform to provide resources as well as tell the story of our diverse economy and show the people who make the conscious choice everyday to work and live in Santa Cruz. Monitors in the studio were used to show highlights from the website including photos, videos, and animated screencasts.
We invited several local businesses from across the City of Santa Cruz, many of them new businesses or located away from the main commercial core of Downtown, to participate in the Pop-Up market.
The businesses were on hand showcasing and selling some of the awesome products and services they produce within Santa Cruz city limits, including:
- Berdels: A local surf and skate lifestyle emporium featuring products from local designers
- Goose's Goodies: handmade decadent toffee
- Rebecca Godson Design: Jewelry made with truth, loving intention, and energy
- Home/Work: An affordable bohemian modern shop for the home and home office offering one of a kind locally made goods
- Subverse Industries: Handmade socially conscious and ethically made Festival, Goth, Steampunk, and Circus fashion accessories
- The Nook: A salon providing exquisite styling and a sublime atmosphere
- Odonata Wines: A small family winery focused on local organic grapes that are sustainably grown
- Venus Spirits: Producers of organic small-batch whiskey, gin, and blue agave spirits
We also had several unique beers on tap from Lupulo Craft Beer House and tacos from Vivas.
The kick off of the Choose Santa Cruz website had all the elements of a wonderful event. From the committee to the guests and vendors- it was a very fun, supportive and successful event.
