How long have you worked for the City of Santa Cruz?

I have worked for the City of Santa Cruz since December 2024.

What do you do in the Housing Division?

Currently, I facilitate the overall review of affordable housing projects, their environmental review, and their funding sources through HUD and HCD in which they are seeking vouchers that will help fund their projects. Additionally, I am responsible for the distribution of grants and awards that have been allocated to the over infrastructure improvements of Downtown Santa Cruz.

Why did you choose to work in the Housing Division?

My previous work in real estate development within the private sector has given me a strong understanding of the challenges that new housing development faces. I feel my experience allows me to help guide and navigate new affordable housing projects through the nuances of federal, state, and local processes, while looking to achieve the city’s long term housing goals.

What are your favorite aspects of your job?

The variety of different professional disciplines and diverse groups of people I get to work and collaborate with. I have the privilege of working with engineers, architects, urban designers, developers, business owners, and other public agencies. There are a lot of groups involved in trying to provide housing solutions for our community, and I truly enjoy working towards that shared goal with others.

What are you looking forward to working on in 2025?

I’m excited for the current housing and hotel projects being built, the future projects being proposed within the city, as well as the city’s long-term growth plan. We live in a unique and beautiful place, and it is important that we continue to invest in our community.
